At the reccommendation of one of the owners of the place we are staying at we stopped by Monteriggioni on our way to Siena. It is a very small and very well preserved town that sits on a hill overlooking the surrounding area, its purpose was once to be a lookout for armys approaching Siena. It was a gorgeous little town, i absolutely loved it. I was also glad it was so small when we arrived and discovered that i had left our cash in a my bag which i had not brought and needed money to pay for parking. The atm was at the other end of town but thankfully that was only a few minutes walk.
We were able to walk around parts if the top of the wall overlooking the town and surrounding area.
It was then onto Siena where i had booked us into a food tasting walking tour at lunch time. We were glad we did it, in partuclar the plan with the cheese and cold cuts was out of the tourist area with access from a carpark, we would never of found this place on our own.
We then went inside the Duomo, this was amazing inside, the pictures dont really show how amazing it is.
Then back to our Tuscan farmhouse for a swim and then a Tuscan dinner that was amazing.
