Day 12: goodbye Tuscany, hello Rome

It was sad to leave Tuscany, there was still more to see and do and the people where we stayed were so lovely.

I survived driving on the wrong side of the road and got used to the way Italians seem to drive, very fast and without the use of blinkers!! It was time to return our car, the end of driving for our holiday.

Waiting at the train station in Florence for our train to Rome, Sam and the kids kept themselves entertained...

We arrived in Rome in the early afternoon and after dropping off our luggage and with a map in hand we set out to get started on seeing the sites.

First stop the Spanish steps which were very crowded.

Many of the sites in italy we have seen so far have had some scaffolding up for restoration work which is understandable and Rome is no different however on arrival at the Trevi Fountain i must admit i was quite disappointed as there was no water in it and it was completely surrounded by a fence., but we still took a couple of pics and the kids got gelato before we moved on.

It was the on to the Pantheon

It is quite warm in Rome and after a lot of walking the cold water from the water fountains is a welcome relief

Tossing a coin and making a wish

The giant doors to our apartment

Piazza Del Popolo, right near our apartment in Rome
