Day 7. Tuscany, Pisa and Lucca

We were up and packed early and with my hands gripping tightly to the steering wheel we departed nervously in our rental car, bound for Pisa. After a busy roundabout we made our way onto the freeway and i made sure to stay to the right as often as possible out of the way of the many crazy drivers zooming past. We made it to Pisa with no time to spare arriving at the tower exactly at our allocated time to climb to the top. It was hard on the legs but we made it to the top and sat for a quick rest before taking in the view.

It was the time to head back down and take a series of photos with the tower......

We made our way back to the car and had a quick picnic lunch and then it was off to Lucca. I missed a turn on the way and we ended on a road that was only wide enough for one car and had steep ditches either side. We came to an intersection where a car had its back wheel stuck on the edge of the ditch on the corner and there was no way past, after a couple of minutes police arrived and they with Sam and one other man helped push the car back onto the road, i decided to save the lady the embarrassment of having photos taken of her misfortunate driving and we were soon on our way and thankfully soon past the narrow back streets we had ended up in.

Now in Lucca we hired bikes and rode around the top of the wall that surrounds the entire town.

The perfect way to end the ride

And then it was time to head to our agriturismo in the Tuscan hills

The kids very excited to finally be somewhere with a pool finished the day with a swim.
